Originally scheduled to release on July 25, 2025, Ajay Devgn’s much-awaited action-comedy “Son of Sardaar 2” has now been postponed to August 1, 2025. The reason behind this sudden change is to avoid a box-office clash with Mohit Suri’s blockbuster film “Saiyaara,” which is receiving tremendous love and attention from audiences across India.
Despite the delay, fans can expect a high-energy family entertainer as Ajay Devgn returns as the iconic character Jassi. The original “Son of Sardaar” (released in 2012) was a clean comedy that earned massive appreciation from the audience, especially for its family-friendly humor and engaging action.
Dhadak 2 to Clash with Son of Sardaar 2
Interestingly, Son of Sardaar 2 will now release alongside “Dhadak 2” on August 1, 2025. This romantic drama stars Triptii Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi, and is produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions.
There were recent speculations that Dhadak 2 might get postponed due to the massive box office success of “Saiyaara,” which has impacted several romantic releases. However, the team behind Dhadak 2 has confirmed that the film will stick to its original release date.
What is Dhadak 2 About?
Dhadak 2 is the spiritual sequel to the 2018 hit “Dhadak” which launched Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter. The first film was a remake of the critically acclaimed Marathi movie Sairat, and was well-received by audiences for its youthful love story and intense drama.
Dhadak 2 is inspired by the 2018 Tamil film “Pariyerum Perumal”. The plot revolves around a law student from a lower caste who falls in love with an upper-caste girl in college. Their bond is soon tested by harsh caste realities and societal pressures, making this a compelling and emotional romantic drama.
